It’s Tyler Van Dyke time!
Ahead of Miami’s ACC opener against Virginia, a pair of QB injuries were noted.
First, freshman QB Jake Garcia is out with an undisclosed injury. Garcia was seen on campus this week wearing a walking boot and on crutches.
Miami Athletics confirmed Garcia’s absence in the press box before the game.

The other injury of note is to starting quarterback D’Eriq King. The 6th year senior made his way onto the field for early outs, but when the team took the field for warmups, he was in an orange hoodie and sweats. Miami Athletics has not confirmed this injury, but I saw it with my own 2 eyes: King isn’t playing today.
With both King and Garcia out tonight, super freshman Tyler Van Dyke ascends to the QB1 slot. He along with redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha and walk-on Ryan Rizk are the only healthy and available QBs for the Canes this evening.
Also noted during warmups, senior STRIKER Amari Carter is out again this week. He is in shorts and not warming up with the team again tonight.
