Shelton Henderson, the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2025 class, has committed to Miami, per his Instagram page.
Henderson — the 6-foot-6, 220-pound small forward from Bellaire (TX) and the JL3 Elite AAU program — was originally committed to Duke. He reopened his recruitment last week, and now he’s a Hurricane.
Henderson’s primary recruiter at Duke was Jai Lucas, who left the Blue Devils to take the Miami head coaching job in March. Lucas attended the same high school as the five-star and has created a close bond.
“Shelton is someone I have known for a long time and I am very familiar with him and his family,” Lucas said. “He has an exceptional work ethic and fearlessness on the court, but what I am most excited about is the impact he will have in our locker room and on the program as a whole.”
The five-star is known as one of the best defenders in the 2025 class.
“He is a two way player that’s very effective from everywhere on the court on both sides,” his AAU teammate Sebastian Williams-Adams said. “He’s gonna bring a toughness to your team that doesn’t come with many players and a winning attitude that never gives up.”
Miami has Henderson and top-50 prospect Dante Allen coming in next season as freshman. Lucas has picked up several notable transfers as well, including Ernest Udeh, Malik Reneau, Tre Donaldson and Tru Washington.
