Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor has landed a new coaching gig for the 2023 college football season, according to the Miami Herald.
Taylor, who played on the Dolphins for most of his NFL career, will remain in the Sunshine State to help out the Miami Hurricanes.
According to the report from the Miami Herald, Taylor will be the defensive ends coach for Miami. This was the final assistant coaching vacancy on Mario Cristobal’s staff.
Last season, Taylor helped out the Hurricanes as a defensive analyst. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles this promotion.
Judging by the reactions on Twitter, Miami fans are amped up about Taylor’s latest move.
“Intriguing hire,” one person said. “MC hired Taylor into an off-field analyst role last summer. This will be his first on-field coaching role at the college level.”
“Miami has wanted to move Taylor on the field for a while now. They believe he is a special coach and recruiter with an A+ attitude,” another person tweeted.
On the field, Taylor was an absolute menace. He finished his NFL career with 788 tackles and 139.5 sacks.
Time will tell if Taylor can develop into a well-rounded coach at Miami.
