Each year since his freshman season at St. Raymond’s, Class of 2027 point guard Anderson Diaz has improved in seemingly all categories of his game.
This past season, at the suddenly defunct Lawrence Woodmere Academy, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Diaz shouldered a bulk of the scoring load as a go-to source.
He thrived at evoking space creation off the dribble, hitting crafty and difficulty contested shots through traffic, and splashing deeper 3-pointers while balancing his repertoire with a consistent mid range and pull up presence.
As it was announced this week, the slick left handed Top-25 national recruit in his class will prolong his high school career with the City Reapers of the Overtime Elite League.
Diaz, who averaged 11.6 PPG, 3.8 RPG and 3.0 APG on the EYBL circuit, is currently hearing from Arkansas, Providence, Louisville, UCLA, Illinois, Syracuse, Seton Hall, and others.
In the Atlanta-based OTE program, Diaz will play alongside several high caliber recruits.
The City Reapers now feature 6-foot-9, 245-pound multidimensional five star Class of 2027 forward Jeremy Jenkins.
A Miami, Fla. native, Jenkins holds offers from the likes of Kansas, Florida State, Miami, BYU, South Florida, Georgia Tech, Georgetown, and several others.
Jenkins, who was instrumental in leading Riviera Prep of the South Florida area to state titles, is slated for a visit to Florida State on Sept. 6th.
NY Bred Big To Play For Cold Hearts
Another LWA transfer, 6-foot-11 NY Rens behemoth Caleb Ourigou, will play in OTE with the Cold Hearts.
As a low post scoring threat who continues to develop into a refined and traditional back to the rim big, Ourigou is shaping into one of the top interior players out of the New York City area.
A 20-point and 20-rebound performance during Peach Jam has kept him under a national microscope.
As he continues to develop into a menacing shot blocker and steer the driving lanes clear, Ourigou has picked up recent offers Syracuse, Illinois, UCLA, and Temple.
His immense size and physicality was evident on both the defensive and offensive glass this summer, as Ourigou generated possessions and provided second chance opportunities with his consistent, workmanlike interior banging.
Arkansas The Latest
As for Diaz, who has levitated up the high major market this summer, his most recent offer has come from John Calipari and Arkansas.
“I’m very blessed to be able to speak with Coach Cal,” said Diaz told ZAGSBLOG
.“I’m blessed to be one of the kids he sees as good enough to earn an offer. It’s just a great program he’s running over there. He definitely develops a lot of great players and gets them to the level where they need to be.”
