The Miami Hurricanes have been on upset alert in the NCAA Tournament for the past few days amid an injury to sophomore forward Norchad Omier. But ahead of their first tournament game against Drake, they got some really good news.
According to Stadium college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, Omier is expected to play against Drake today. He has reportedly recovered from the injured right ankle that he sustained during the ACC Tournament.
Omier leads the Hurricanes in rebounds and blocks per game this season. His 13.6 points per game rank third on the team.
For his efforts in helping Miami secure the regular season ACC crown, Omier earned Third-Team All-ACC honors.

Norchad Omier began his college basketball career at Arkansas State, where dominated for the Red Wolves for two years but couldn’t get into the postseason while playing for them. He was a two-time First-Team All-Sun Belt selection and the Sun Belt Player of the Year in 2022.
Upon transferring to Miami after last season, Omier had no problems adapting to the competition level of the ACC. He’s now mere hours away from making his first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Will Omier be the difference-maker for the Hurricanes against Drake today?
The game will be played at 7:25 p.m. ET and will air on TBS.
