That was just gross.
The Miami Hurricanes’ first chance at winning the Hattiesburg regional was over in minutes. Before the end of half an inning. The Golden Eagles put up 9 runs in the top of the first, and it was on to Monday before the Canes even came up to bat. The big blow was a 3-run HR to end the scoring in the first and finally send Tate DeRias to the showers. Although I’m not sure a shower was warranted with the lack of sweat worked up, but whatever.
It’s late and I don’t have the desire to delve into the details of this mess. Use this post as a thread to discuss the game on Monday night.
Miami gets a second shot in the double elimination tournament on Monday night against USM at 9:00 pm ET. We’ll see who the Canes send to the mound. Perhaps Reese Lumpkin, but with no Brian Walters since Friday, I figure he’s in play for multiple innings late. Can they get there is the question.
We’ll find out soon enough.
