Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes have reportedly landed their next defensive coordinator.
Per ESPN college football writer Pete Thamel, Tulane DC Lance Guidry is expected to become join the Canes staff down in Coral Gables.
Guidry replaces Kevin Steele, who recently reunited with Nick Saban at Alabama. The 51-year-old assistant comes to Miami after recently being hired by Tulane, following a top-five defensive finish as the defensive coordinator at Marshall.
The Herd were the No. 8 total defense in the nation, holding teams to the fifth-fewest points and posting the country’s top third-down defense.
Now he’ll be looking to bring that same sort of defensive dominance to a Miami team that finished 5-7 last season as they continue to try to recapture the glory years of the early 2000s.
Guidry had previous stops at McNeese State, Miami (OH), Western Kentucky, Southeastern Louisiana and FAU.
