A day after being named unanimous 1st team All-ACC, Ward is named conference Player and Offensive Player of the Year

After being named unanimous 1st team All-ACC on Tuesday afternoon, Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward was named ACC Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.

A senior transfer from Washington State (and Incarnate Word before that), Ward rewrote the record books for a passer in his single season in Miami. 4,123 yards with 36 TDs, and a combined 41 total touchdowns were tops in the country, and all set records in the history of Miami Hurricanes football.

A native of West Columbia, TX, Ward famously had zero stars or scholarship offers coming out of High School. His parents sent tape to schools all over the country, and Incarnate Word — and FCS school located in San Antonio — was the one school to extend Ward a scholarship.

Ward quickly rose to prominence as Incarnate Word’s QB before transferring to Washington State. After two stellar years in Pullman, Ward declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. However, after reconsidering his options, Ward withdrew his name from the NFL Draft and committed to Miami in the transfer portal.

Once in Coral Gables, it was clear that Ward was a singular talent and his impact on the Canes would be felt immediately. With his stellar play, Ward led Miami to a 10 win season, their first since 2017.

While Ward was a fringe draft prospect after last season, he’s undoubtedly one of the top QBs heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, and could be the top overall pick this year. He has grown as a person, and a player, and adds these two awards to his already impressive collection.

Congratulations to the 2024 ACC Player and Offensive Player of the Year, Cameron Ward!
