Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is nowhere close to 100 percent for this Saturday’s game against Louisville.
During the first half of this ACC matchup, ESPN’s Molly McGrath provided some details on Van Dyke’s leg injury.
Van Dyke has been diagnosed with a Morel-Lavallée lesion. The National Institutes of Health describe it as “a closed degloving soft tissue injury, as a result of abrupt separation of skin and subcutaneous tissue from the underlying fascia.”
McGrath said Van Dyke’s injury is something commonly seen with high-speed traumas, like a car accident.
ABC/ESPN sideline reporter @MollyAMcGrath added those injuries are commonly seen in high velocity traumas like car accidents.

That sounds incredibly painful.
Van Dyke hasn’t been great this season, tossing 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. However, he’s been sharp this Saturday against Louisville, completing 10-of-15 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.
An upset win over Louisville this Saturday would do an awful lot for Miami’s confidence. In order for that to happen, Van Dyke will need to be great. So far, he’s doing his job.
