Tony Mitchell is the No. 1-rated cornerback and one of the best players in the 2023 cycle. On Thursday, he narrowed down his recruitment to just 10 schools.
Mitchell’s top 10 includes Alabama, Florida State, Clemson, Oregon, Texas A&M, Ohio State, LSU, Georgia, Miami and Florida. As you might have guessed, half of Mitchell’s top 10 schools are SEC programs.
The five-star defensive back is a product out of the state of Alabama. The Crimson Tide don’t typically let such elite prospects slip out of their own backyard. This shouldn’t be any different, either. Though it’s still early in Mitchell’s recruitment, Alabama is the “Crystal Ball” leader on 247Sports, having received 75 percent of the predictions. LSU and Florida State have also received predictions to land Mitchell.
Where will the elite prospect end up? It looks like just 10 schools will be in the mix moving forward.

Though Tony Mitchell currently lives in Alabama, he’s originally from Florida. That’s a big reason why Florida, Florida State and Miami are in the mix. Oregon, meanwhile, is the only West Coast program included in Mitchell’s top 10.
At 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Mitchell has great length at the cornerback position. He may have room to grown, too, considering how young he still is. It’s also still very early in his overall recruitment.
Don’t expect to hear any commitment news surrounding Mitchell anytime soon. He still has a ways to go before choosing where he’ll attend college.
