Miami goes into SEC country for a tall, talented receiver to join the #squad

Miami added another dynamic player to the 2022 recruiting class today when Murfeesboro (TN) Oakland 4-star WR Isaiah Horton committed to the Hurricanes!

A 6’3” 190lb receiver, Horton adds a dimension of height, along with speed and skill, that Miami has been missing for the past few years at this key offensive position. There have been a couple players with height at receiver recently, most notably Lawrence Cager, Brian Hightower, the FSU killers themselves: Darrell Langham, and Dee Wiggins, but overall Miami has lacked the size and skill at receiver that Horton brings to the table.

Horton showed his skills on the field exceptionally well in 2020. In helping lead Murfessboro (TN) Oakland to an undefeated, State Championship season, Horton recorded 34 catches fro 693 yards (20.4ypc) and 7 touchdowns. He was, is, and will be the focal point of Oakland’s passing attack, and he looks to continue his progression to be a top of the lineup receiver at the college level in the near future, as well.

This recruitment was a battle for Miami, but one they were able to win. Horton had interest in named finalists Alabama, and Florida, but the real battle for Miami here was against the final named finalist: Tennessee. Miami has lost a couple battles for blue-chip prospects from that state to the hometown school, but this is one that has finally gone the way of the orange and green.

At the time of his commitment, Horton is the #8 player in the State of Tennessee, the #34 WR in the country, and the #248 player overall in the 2022 recruiting class. The blue chip pass catcher is the 7th commitment for Miami this cycle, joining QB Jacurri Brown, WR Landon Ibieta, OT Falentha Carswell, LB Justin Medlock, and CBs Khamauri Rogers and Chris Graves.
