The Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers both signed linebackers on Thursday.

The Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not agree to a trade, but they effectively swapped linebackers on Thursday. As the 2025 NFL free agency period continues, the Dolphins agreed to terms with K.J. Britt, who started 11 games last year for the Buccaneers while Tampa Bay signed Anthony Walker, Jr., who was an eight game starter in Miami in 2024.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported both deals.

Walker joined the Dolphins in 2024, signing a one-year free-agent deal after spending three years with the Cleveland Browns. He started his career with a four-year stint with the Indianapolis Colts, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He began 2024 as Miami’s starting inside linebacker, but he fell into a rotational role after Miami claimed Tyrel Dodson off waivers. Walker appeared in 14 games, starting eight of them, for the Dolphins, recording 68 tackles, one sack, and one interception.

Britt was a fifth-round pick by Tampa Bay in 2021. He played in 59 games for the Buccaneers over the last four seasons, starting 15 times. He has 126 career tackles, a half sack, and three passes defensed in his career. He signed a one-year contract with Miami.

With the Dolphins, Britt likely joins Channing Tindall as a rotational option behind presumed starting linebackers Dodson and Jordyn Brooks.
