The Miami Dolphins selected Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson with pick No. 21 in the 2024 NFL Draft. Robinson was the fourth edge rusher off the board and the fifth defensive player.
The pass rush was one of the key needs for Miami to address heading into the draft. The Dolphins currently have rushers Jalean Phillips and Bradley Chubb coming off significant injuries that ended their 2023 season. General manager Chris Grier first addressed the edge position during free agency by signing former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Shaquil Barrett, but the Dolphins also cut ties with Emmanuel Ogbah and allowed Andrew Van Ginkel to walk in free agency.
While it could be argued that offensive line is the more glaring need, the Dolphins went with the huge upside of Robinson. After struggling with a multitude of injuries on the defense last season, Miami has clearly made a point to not have a repeat issue.
