Playing in his age-30 season, Mike Hilton was one of the few bright spots on an otherwise-struggling Bengals defense. Appearing in 16 games while making 10 starts, the veteran finished the season with one interception, 73 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, five passes defended, and a 75.9 PFF grade, the 14th-best mark out of 118 eligible players. Despite his strong play, the Bengals narrowly missed the playoffs after going 9-8 in the regular season.
Mike Hilton originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent following the 2016 NFL Draft. Signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Mississippi product spent the 2016 season bouncing around the league before finding a home with the Pittsburgh Steelers. While he spent his rookie season on the practice squad, he made his regular season debut with the club in 2017. Appearing in 16 games while making four starts, the undrafted free agent proved himself by recording two interceptions, six passes defended, one forced fumble, four sacks, 64 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, and eight quarterback hits.
Mike Hilton remained productive with Pittsburgh, playing a similar role for the next three seasons before signing a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. During his first season with the club, the cornerback helped his new team reach the Super Bowl. Starting in nine games while making 17 appearances, the cornerback ended the year with two interceptions, five passes defended, 66 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, and two quarterback hits. While the team made the Super Bowl, they ultimately lost to Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams.
Since signing his rookie contract, Mike Hilton has appeared in 123 games, making 56 starts. While on the field, the cornerback has recorded 13 interceptions, 56 passes defended, 11.5 sacks, 520 tackles, and 66 tackles-for-loss.
