Breaking: Former Titans Third Rounder Generating Trade Interest – 3 Potential Fits

September 15, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback and Green Bay Packer, Malik Willis, is generating trade interest this 2025 regular season. According to reports, the Cincinnati Bengals are the latest team to express interest in the quarterback as they’ll be without their star signal-caller, Joe Burrow, for three months. There’s no doubt that Willis is an adequate potential starter for the team that might deserve a chance, and this could be his opportunity to sign with the Bengals and give them a capable quarterback. Current Green Bay running back, Josh Jacobs, said that Willis should be starting somewhere, so that should tell you what they see in him.

Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Auburn and Liberty product is easily one of the greatest backups in the league, who should get a chance one day after taking over for Green Bay Jordan Love last season for two games, winning both of those matchups to put the Packers in the best position as far as momentum. The Bengals won’t be the only team that will reach out to Willis to check on his availability. However, it will have to be at the right price for Willis if the Packers are open to moving him. They do know they will run the risk of being without Willis if they do decide to part ways, but these three other teams could offer something that the Packers can’t turn down.

Possible Destinations

Washington Commanders

The worst news just came for the Washington Commanders this season as their future franchise quarterback, Jayden Daniels, is nursing a knee injury. They shouldn’t risk the idea of playing him this upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders if they know the offensive line won’t be able to protect him at all costs. However, if they do, they should only be running the football with Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols handling most of the snaps. Even if they do that, they’re also without Austin Ekeler for the rest of the season, so they should use that as an example to not risk Daniels.

It’s still early in the season, and this means a veteran like Marcus Mariota could take over duties for one game. Meanwhile, they could use some quarterback depth here. Willis could easily find his role as a long-term backup for Washington, especially when Mariota is entering the final year of his contract.

Carolina Panthers

However, the Carolina Panthers could look to dip their hands in the trade market if they don’t see any improvement from quarterback Bryce Young. Veteran Andy Dalton is more of a bridge starter despite his shocking extension. Willis is arguably the better starter for this roster and can revive the Panthers if Young can’t.

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins have lost their soul as they might be searching for not only a new head coach, but someone to replace Tua Tagovailoa after this season. If they continue to lose games, they should trade for Willis, who could bring this Dolphins offense to the right page even if they don’t reach the postseason. Willis isn’t god, but one chance in this offense can change the trajectory and give some optimism for next season if the Dolphins are out of postseason contention.
