The Dolphins are bolstering their coaching staff in a major way for the 2023 season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are adding former Broncos head coach Vic Fangio to their staff.
Fangio, 64, spent this season as a defensive consultant for the Eagles. Prior to this gig, he led the Broncos from 2019 to 2021.
In his three years with the Broncos, Fangio owned a 19-30 record. His defense, however, ranked among the NFL’s top-10 units twice in that span.
Fangio has ample experience as a defensive coordinator. He held that title for the 49ers from 2011 to 2014, making an appearance in three NFC title games.
The Bears had Fangio as their defensive coordinator from 2015 to 2018. In his final season in the Windy City, his unit ranked first in points allowed.
Time will tell if Fangio can lead Miami’s defense to new heights this fall.
