Miami Dolphins star running back De’Von Achane suffered a rib injury during Miami’s win over the New York Jets, but fans of the team and fantasy football managers alike can breathe a sigh of relief. While he didn’t return to the game after suffering his injury, head coach Mike McDaniel said there’s nothing to worry about. According to the coach, Achane could have returned to the game if necessary, but he didn’t because Miami had a comfortable lead and the coach didn’t want to risk re-injuring his star player.

De’Von Achane Injury Update: Dolphins RB Fine After Rib Scare
After a terrible start to the season, the Miami Dolphins find themselves alive in the playoff race after winning five of their last six contests. Now 6-7, the Dolphins still have low odds of reaching the postseason, but they’ll need De’Von Achane to overcome his injury if they want to keep writing this Cinderella story. With Tyreek Hill done for the season, Achane is probably the most consistent weapon on this offense.
Prior to the Jets game, Achane recorded 1,034 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 186 carries (5.6 yards per attempt) to go along with 54 receptions for 370 yards and four scores on 72 targets. He continued to play strong against the Jets, recording 92 rushing yards and a touchdown on just seven carries before suffering his rib injury. Without him, Miami might not be playing meaningful football at this stage of the season.
With De’Von Achane sidelined with his rib injury, former fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright became the unquestioned leader of the backfield. Inheriting Achane’s workload, the second-year pro finished the night with 24 carries for 107 yards and one touchdown. Rookie Ollie Gordon, meanwhile, recorded five carries for 17 yards and a touchdown.
