Dolphins 2nd-round pick to be announced by Alec Ingold and it makes perfect sense

The Green Bay native gets to announce Miami’s pick in his hometown.

The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, with the first round taking place that night. The second and third rounds will be held on Friday, with Miami Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold expected to announce the team’s selection in the second round. In recent years, the Dolphins have had Hall of Fame fullback Larry Csonka and should-be-Hall-of-Fame tackle Richmond Webb announce their picks. Ingold seems like a different move for the Dolphins.

But it is one that makes complete sense.

This year’s NFL Draft is at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Ingold is a Green Bay native. He played college football at the University of Wisconsin. The Draft going to Green Bay allows the Dolphins to celebrate one of their key players with announcing a draft pick in front of his hometown.

Ingold has played six years in the NFL, the last three for Miami. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2023 and, despite Miami underutilizing the fullback position, is clearly a leader on the team and an important part of what head coach Mike McDaniel envisions for his roster. He does whatever the team needs, blocking, running, receiving, and he has been the epitome of class during his time in Miami. Ingold is also a three-time Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee, first with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, then the last two tears for the Dolphins.

Miami made the right choice in giving Ingold the chance to be recognized for his work with the team, on and off the field, in front of his hometown fans.

The full list of players announcing the picks for all 32 teams can be found on NFL.com.
