The Miami Dolphins are set to welcome back one running back just as they put another on the injured reserve.
On the same day Miami is placing rookie speedster De’Von Achane on IR due to a knee issue, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said the team has opened up Jeff Wilson Jr.’s 21-day window.
Wilson will practice with the team today, McDaniel told reporters.

Wilson missed Miami’s first five games of the season with his own injury. With his window open, the Dolphins now have 21 days to put Wilson on their active roster or place him on IR for the rest of the season.
Wilson played for McDaniel with the San Francisco 49ers, and the head coach acquired his former pupil in a trade with San Francisco in the middle of last season.
In eight games with the Dolphins in 2022, Wilson rushed for 392 yards and three touchdowns on 84 carries. He has rushed for 2,125 yards and 18 touchdowns in 53 career NFL regular season games.
Miami still has Raheem Mostert as its primary ballcarrier, with Wilson joining Salvon Ahmed and Chris Brooks in the mix behind him.
