The Miami Dolphins have looked to a fellow AFC East team to help fill their backup quarterback spot.
Miami is signing former New York Jets quarterback Mike White, according to reports. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says White is getting a two-year deal worth up to $16 million.
A fifth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2018, White made his NFL regular season debut with the Jets in 2021. He appeared in four games that year, starting three, and threw for 953 yards, five touchdowns and eight interceptions.
White was one of four different quarterbacks to start a game for the Jets in 2022. He completed 58.9% of his passes for 1,192 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions over four starts.
White, who turns 28 later this month, has battled injuries each of the last two seasons.
In Miami, he’ll be counted on to stay ready in case he’s needed to replace Tua Tagovailoa, who has had his own issues with concussions since arriving in the NFL.
