NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms found himself in hot water earlier this week.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa donated money to help cover funeral expenses to the family of a Dolphins fan who had passed away. When discussing the generous donation, Simms recalled the fan who passed away trolled him on social media.
During an exchange with Mike Florio, Simms said “we’re also setting an example of hey here’s money to a guy who was very negative.” Needless to sad, Dolphins fans were not pleased with the comment.
“Chris Simms literally said he doesn’t think it’s a good idea to donate money to Eric Carmona because the TuAnon account trolled him on Twitter. Disgusting,” one account said, showing the video.
Here is the full context of Simms’ comments, and it’s not better.
He starts by saying it’s a nice gesture and a horrible thing, but then immediately goes into “he trolled me a lot.” Florio then goes into saying it’s better to be trolled than ignored because people are… https://t.co/N3VIWtZB3U pic.twitter.com/AB3UrH8GzU

Fans think Simms should be punished for his comments.
“If Chris Simms doesn’t get, at the bare minimum, suspended for his actions today, @NBCSportsPR has officially shown their cards. & if he tries to donate to the fund as a back pedaling act, we’ll toss it back in his face like an away team throwing a homer back. You’re dead to us,” a fan said.

Athletes and analysts get trolled by fans on social media every day. For Simms to suggest Tua is wrong for giving money to a fan’s family to help with funeral expenses because he trolled someone is awful.
