Dolphins, Hill Agree to Historic Extension

Another Miami Dolphins’ key offensive piece just inked a new deal. Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins agreed to a restructured contract worth up to $90 million over the next three years, according to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter. This new restructured extension includes $65 million guaranteed as well for the first-string receiver.

Hill is going into his third season with Miami. The Dolphins leader in the receiver room has garnered over 10,000 receiving yards and 76 touchdowns throughout his career. The deal is the second franchise historic deal to have taken place in training camp.

Dolphins, Tyreek Hill Agree to Massive Contract

Looking at the Details

The reworked contract placed Hill as the highest-paid receiver in the NFL for the next four years. On top of his previous agreement with Miami, he’ll be paid $106.5 million fully guaranteed through the time period of his contract. The amount makes Hill’s deal the most added to a contract without adding new years in league history. The 30-year-old wide receiver originally was on a four-year, $120 million deal signed in 2022. He’ll now be connected with the Dolphins through 2026.

Adding on to the historically big deal, Hill’s contract is now the most guaranteed money given to a wide receiver in NFL history. This new deal comes in a summer where some of the league’s top receivers were paid heavily over $200 million in extensions. Those receivers included Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, who signed a four-year, $140 million earlier this summer.

The deal itself was negotiated by his agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus. Drew has been active with the Dolphins organization to get a deal done throughout training camp, and the days leading into. Drew himself has represented many contract conversations for Miami players, including pass rusher Emmanuel Ogbah’s short-term contract.

Insane 24 Hours for Hill

Not only did Hill agree to a historic extension, but he was also announced as No. 1 in the 2024 NFL ‘Top 100’ list. The rankings were polled by his fellow NFL players across the league. The honor marks the first Dolphin to be named for the award and first wide receiver to claim the title.

Hill led the NFL in almost all receiving numbers last season. The Cheetah had a league-high 1,799 receiving yards, tied-best 13 receiving touchdowns, averaged 15.1 yards per reception and caught 119 passes in 2023. All stats, excluding touchdowns, are career-high numbers for him.

Another Dolphins’ Offensive Piece Locked in Long Term

It has been a busy summer for Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier. Hill’s reworked deal will now lock in the speedster to Miami through 2026. This marks one of five other offensive core pieces to agree to a long-term relationship with the Dolphins. One of them was fellow wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who agreed to a three-year, $84.75 million deal this summer.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa agreed to a four-year, $212.4 million extension last week. The duo running backs Raheem Mostert (two-year, $9 million) and Alec Ingold (three-year, $17.2 million) make this list as well. Seemingly, every offensive player that was due for an extension on the roster got one. Hill and the rest of the offense will work now under a confirmed future.
