The Miami Dolphins’ high-flying offense could be shorthanded for the next few weeks.
According ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins could place rookie running back De’Von Achane on injured reserve. He suffered a knee injury this past weekend against the Giants.
Dolphins reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques added that Achane would have five weeks to heal if placed on injured reserve. That’s because the Dolphins have a Week 10 bye.
The downside to placing Achane on injured reserve is that he’d miss games against the Panthers, Eagles, Patriots and Chiefs.
Something to keep in mind as a source tells @AdamSchefter that De’Von Achane is a candidate for IR
He would miss the Dolphins’ next 4 games (CAR, PHI, NE, KC) but essentially would have 5 weeks to heal, with the team’s Week 10 bye. So earliest return would be Week 11 vs Raiders https://t.co/5IAC9MDOTm

Achane has been phenomenal for the Dolphins, rushing for 460 yards and five touchdowns on just 38 carries. The fact that he’s averaging 12.1 rushing yards per attempt is a testament to how well his skillset meshes with Mike McDaniel’s system.
If Achane is placed on injured reserve, that would make Raheem Mostert the unquestioned No. 1 option in the backfield for the Dolphins. He has 314 rushing yards and seven touchdowns through five games.
The Dolphins could also give carries to Chris Brooks and Salvon Ahmed during Achane’s absence. Jeff Wilson Jr. could also be activated off injured reserve.
