The Miami Dolphins are in the market for a tight end after trading away Jonnu Smith.
The Miami Dolphins made a huge trade on Monday, sending cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith, along with a 2027 fifth-round draft choice, to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In exchange, the Dolphins added safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. Now, it appears the Dolphins are working the second half of their plan.
According to NFL Network Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins are “in conversations with multiple teams about acquiring a tight end.” Following the trade, Miami’s tight ends are Pharaoh Brown, Tanner Conner, Julian Hill, Hayden Rucci, and rookie Jalin Conyers.
Miami is likely to have already had some discussions with teams, with rumors of Smith being traded to the Steelers swirling throughout the offseason. Offseason rumors of potential tight ends on the trade market have included the Atlanta Falcons’ Kyle Pitts and the Las Vegas Raiders’ Michael Mayer.
Pelissero ended his post, writing, “A wild start to the holiday week could get wilder…” The Dolphins are making the break between minicamp and training camp interesting.
