The Miami Dolphins have made improvements at almost every part of the team this offseason except one: Punter. They finally addressed that position today.
According to NFL insider Adam Caplan, the Dolphins are signing veteran punter Thomas Morstead to a one-year deal. Last season Morstead played 14 games split between the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons.
Morstead rose to prominence with the New Orleans Saints between 2009 and 2020. He won a Super Bowl with them as a rookie and earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 2012.
Morstead will be replacing Michael Palardy, who started all 17 games for Miami last year. Palardy averaged 44.7 yards per punt – 24th in the league among qualifying players. He was not re-signed after the season.

It’s doubtful that Thomas Morstead will go down as the final piece of a championship puzzle. But Dolphins fans on Twitter are pretty excited to be bringing him into the fold. Many believe he will be an immediate improvement at the position.
Miami has spared no expense in upgrading just about every position this season. Between the blockbuster trade for Tyreek Hill and the veteran acquisitions of Teddy Bridgewater and Terron Armstead, the Dolphins have depth everywhere now.
The Dolphins play the Saints in 2022, so Morstead will get a chance to punt against the team he helped win a Super Bowl over a decade ago.
