Xavien Howard has been mentioned in several rumors over the past month, but that hasn’t affected his status for training camp. The All-Pro cornerback reported to camp this Tuesday for the Miami Dolphins.
Miami posted a video of Howard entering the facility on Twitter this morning. Fans took that as an encouraging sign for his future with the Dolphins, albeit there’s no guarantee he stays there for the long haul.
Nonetheless, it’s a good thing that Howard reported to camp on time. If he didn’t, he would’ve been subject to daily fines of $50,000. That could’ve hurt his relationship with the front office.
Howard, who led the league with 10 interceptions last season, is hoping for a raise since he’s coming off the best year of his career.

There are still four years remaining on the $75 million deal that Howard originally signed in 2019. However, he wants to revisit that contract since he technically outplayed it in 2020.
If the Dolphins are willing to move Howard at any point this offseason, they would have plenty of takers. Howard is in the prime of his career and has been highly productive when he’s on the field.
Before the fan base in Miami worries about any blockbuster trade involving Howard, they might want to wait and see how this situation plays out. After all, Howard did show up to camp on time.
