Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has taken a lot of criticism through the years. But ahead of the 2023 season he’s made a big change to his approach that fans are quickly noticing.
During today’s preseason game against the Houston Texans, Tagovailoa managed to brace from a hit by an opposing pass rusher. He was able to adjust his body to land safely sideways as opposed to flat on his back his his head hitting the turf.
Concussions were a big issue for Tagovailoa last season due in no small part to his seeming inability to protect himself from getting hit or slammed to the ground. He wound up missing four games and the Dolphins’ playoff game due to a combination of back injuries and concussions.
As a result, fans are happy to see that Tagovailoa is making more efforts to protect himself:
Video: Seems that #Dolphins QB Tua adjusted from last year and learned how to better protect himself while being tackled.
Seems he’s protecting his head now, nice to see that part improving.
