Former Chiefs LB Melvin Ingram visiting Dolphins

April 12, 2022 by Dolphins Wire

The Miami Dolphins have had an extremely active offseason to this point, but they’ve yet to make many changes on the defensive side of the ball.

That may change very soon, as according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins are hosting former Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Melvin Ingram for a visit on Tuesday.

Ingram, 32, split the 2021 season between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers after nine seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. The last two seasons haven’t been great for Ingram on the stat sheet, as he’s recorded just 35 tackles, 16 quarterback hits and two sacks combined.

However, Pro Football Focus says Ingram generated pressure on 11% of his pass-rushing snaps, which is roughly the same number that Emmanuel Ogbah managed in 2021.

With that being said, adding Ingram to a group that already boasts Ogbah, Jaelan Phillips and others could help him get some of those sacks that have evaded him in recent years.
