Instant analysis from Dolphins' disappointing Week 15 loss vs. Bills

December 18, 2022 by Dolphins Wire

The Miami Dolphins were defeated by the Buffalo Bills, 32-29, on Saturday night, suffering their third loss in as many weeks and granting Sean McDermott’s team another AFC East championship.

Miami’s offense was as balanced as they could be, as they were finally able to get their rushing attack going. Raheem Mostert ran the ball 17 times for 136 yards, and Salvon Ahmed even got in on the action, scoring a touchdown of his own.

Tua Tagovailoa got back to what made him successful prior to the start of the losing streak, hitting Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle consistently. The pair totaled 183 yards and two touchdowns on 12 receptions. However, there were a number of dropped passes and inaccurate passes that had the former first-round pick completing just 56.7% of his attempts.

Defensively, Miami had some big plays, including a strip sack by Jaelan Phillips, but their lack of depth in the secondary ended up being a killer. Josh Allen completed 62.5% of his passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns. He also added another 77 yards on the ground.

On the final drive, undrafted rookie Kader Kohou was called for a 21-yard pass interference that set up the game-winning field goal for Tyler Bass.

Speaking of special teams, Jason Sanders continued his solid run in recent games, making all three of his field goal attempts from 21 yards, 39 yards and 47 yards.

The loss drops Miami to an 8-6 record and could bump them out of a postseason spot at the moment, depending on the results of some other contests this weekend.
