“It Would Not Surprise Me” – NFL Superstar Could Be Available in Massive Trade

October 11, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After spending the last four full seasons with the Miami Dolphins, the team might be willing to trade superstar wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, he said it wouldn’t be a surprise if Waddle becomes a possible trade candidate this year. There’s no doubt that the Dolphins look worse than expected, especially after losing Tyreek Hill for the rest of the season, and now rumors expect the team to release him once the year is over. If that happens, it only makes sense for the Dolphins to do Waddle a favor and trade him to a potential contender where he can thrive with an adequate starting quarterback.

Originally selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product has been a reliable target for the team’s offense, regardless of the circumstances they’ve faced. Even though the Dolphins went through another losing season last year, Waddle still put up 58 receptions for 744 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The star receiver is better off elsewhere since things could turn ugly as head coach Mike McDaniel is on the brink of getting fired, and Tua Tagovailoa might not be the starting signal-caller for Miami next season. If these two things happen, the trade market will only rise for Waddle, so teams should act fast, and these three possible suitors could trade for him.

Possible Next Teams

Dallas Cowboys

What if Jerry Jones is talking about Jaylen Waddle when referring to a “special” player he would trade for when using the extra first-round picks? This move would shake up the entire NFL, putting quarterback Dak Prescott in the best position of his career. The defense might be what stops them, but that won’t matter if they win the game of inches and the momentum if they keep on scoring between Waddle, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. The Cowboys could finally win a championship with a fiery offense, even though the defense needs some work.

As much as Waddle is special, he isn’t going to turn this offense into explosivity. However, it would win the fans back ever since they traded Micah Parsons to Green Bay earlier this offseason.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still in the market for a solid WR2 alongside DK Metcalf. Aaron Rodgers is hoping to bring the Steelers to the Super Bowl in what could be his final season ever in the NFL. They won’t go far if they can’t find that stardom, and Waddle is exactly who the Steelers might need. It’s hard for the Dolphins to trade Waddle to another AFC team, but if the Steelers give up a few solid picks, then they will go through with it.

Kansas City Chiefs

At 2-3, the Kansas City Chiefs are better than their record. Tyquan Thornton has turned himself into a reliable target in a prominent role until Rashee Rice returns to the lineup. However, they’ve dealt with too many injuries and legal issues out of the field; they must get another star receiver to revive this Patrick Mahomes offense. A Waddle trade should bring back some type of life behind Rice, Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown.
