After ranking his top 10 teams in the NFC a few days ago, Colin Cowherd took on the more interesting task of trying to rank the 10 best teams in the elite-QB-heavy AFC.
On Wednesday’s edition of The Herd, Cowherd finally released his ranking. Taking the top two spots were the two teams that have been to the last two Super Bowls: The Kansas City Chiefs at No. 1 and the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 2.
In No. 3 – just edging out the No. 4 Buffalo Bills – were the Los Angeles Chargers with the Jacksonville Jaguars taking the No. 5 spot on the ranking.
Rounding out the top five were (from No. 6 to No. 10) the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins.
Here is the full ranking:
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Buffalo Bills
- Jacksonville Jaguars

It’s a decent mix though one that doesn’t go too far away from the results we saw in 2022. He has all seven of the AFC’s playoff teams in his top 10 with six of them occupying the first six spots. Only the Miami Dolphins would be out of the mix if this were an order of finish.
The Jets and Broncos are very likely to make a jump in wins from last year between the Jets trading for Aaron Rodgers and the Broncos hiring Sean Payton as their new head coach.
What changes would you make to Cowherd’s list?
