Ewers signs on the dotted line just in time for rookie minicamp.

On Thursday afternoon, it was reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network that the Miami Dolphins had signed seventh round draft pick Quinn Ewers out of Texas to a standard four-year contract.

With ink drying on the paperwork Thursday night, Ewers will be available for the Dolphins’ rookie minicamp which starts on Friday in Miami Gardens.

Ewers, a once highly touted quarterback prospect out of high school, slipped to the final round of the 2025 NFL Draft before being selected by Miami with the 231st overall pick. He now sits third on the Dolphins’ quarterback depth chart behind starter Tua Tagovailoa and recently signed backup and former number two overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, Zach Wilson.

Ewers played in 37 games during his college career, completing 64.9% of his passes for 9,128 yards, 68 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. He added an additional 8 touchdowns with his legs. He comes to the National Football League with experience in a similar offensive system, as his offense at Texas openly borrowed from Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel’s scheme.

Time will tell if that experience allows Ewers to eventually overtake Wilson for primary backup duties in Miami.
