Former NFL executive Bobby Beathard passed away this week at the age of 86. His son, Casey, said he died from complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
After spending several years as a scout for the Chiefs and Falcons, Beathard was named the director of player personnel for the Dolphins in 1972. He held that title until 1977.
The Dolphins issued a statement on Beathard’s death this Wednesday afternoon.
“We are saddened by the passing of former Dolphins executive & Hall of Famer, Bobby Beathard,” the team said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with his family & loved ones during this time.”
Once his stint in Miami came to an end, Beathard became Washington’s general manager in 1978. San Diego then hired him as its general manager in 1990.
Over the course of Beathard’s career, he was a part of four Super Bowl winners. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
Our thoughts are with Beathard’s family.
