The Miami Dolphins are mourning the deaths of a pair of players from their undefeated 1972 team.

Running back Hubert Ginn and cornerback Tim Foley both passed away in the last week. Ginn, 76, died on Sept. 21, according to reports, while Foley, 75, passed on Sept. 24 after a long illness, per the Sun-Sentinel.

The Dolphins paid tribute to both men on X/Twitter this afternoon.

“We are saddened by the recent passing of Hubert Ginn and Tim Foley, two members of the 1972 undefeated team,” the Dolphins said in a statement Wednesday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends.”

Foley and Ginn were both members of the Dolphins’ 1970 draft class, the former in the third round out of Purdue and the latter in the ninth out of Florida A&M.

Ginn played nine NFL seasons with the Dolphins, Colts and Raiders, winning a Super Bowl ring with Miami in 1972 and one with Oakland in 1976. In his career, he rushed for 521 yards and three touchdowns on 132 carries while also occasionally returning kicks and punts.

Foley spent all 11 pro seasons with the Dolphins, winning two Super Bowls and making the Pro Bowl in 1979. He intercepted 22 passes in 134 career games.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of both men.
