Tua Tagovailoa is set to be the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins for at least the next two seasons.
It comes after the Dolphins picked up Tagovailoa’s fifth-year option a few weeks ago. If he’s able to stay healthy, then a long-term deal could be in the cards for him.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is excited for Tagovailoa to stay healthy and confirmed that he’s doing “great” as he goes through the offseason.
“He’s doing great,” McDaniel said (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk). “He’s had a really good offseason with his family and training and positioning himself to feel good moving forward. He’s very healthy, vibrant, and I can see a hunger in him that I’m excited to watch play out.”
Under Tagovailoa, the Dolphins were one of the best teams in the league last season. They were 8-5 before he suffered a second concussion that forced him to miss the rest of the season.
He also completed 64.8% of his passes for 3,548 yards with 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
The Dolphins will be in a great position to contend this season if Tagovailoa can put up similar numbers and stay healthy.
