The Miami Dolphins have been identified as one of the top suitors to land Dalvin Cook after his impending release from the Minnesota Vikings. But if Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel knows anything about that, he’s staying quiet.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, McDaniel was asked about the possibility of the Dolphins acquiring Cook. But McDaniel wisely avoid answering (and opening the team up to tampering) with a lengthy and pretty funny response.
“March 6, 1983, the day I was born, right? Now we take a closer look at that date and that in fact was not yesterday,” McDaniel said. “Okay, so people that are rumored to be tall, short, people that are rumored to be, you’re not going to get this guy. I’m Year Two. Okay? What I am excited about is talking about the most important thing which is the third day of veteran minicamp and we’ve got a lot of guys that are good players that have an opportunity to get better. Answer your question?” McDaniel said, via ProFootballTalk.
However, McDaniel did speak glowingly about the team’s current backfield. He said that their five-man group of Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Salvon Amhed, Miles Gaskin and De’Von Achane are “a really cool group.”

The Miami Dolphins lost a first-round pick over tampering charges last year. They’re going to be walking on eggshells when it comes to talking about other players for a very long time.
As for Cook, he’s a four-time Pro Bowler, a Florida native and played at Florida State. There are a lot of good reasons for Cook to join the Dolphins.
Will it happen?
