New Details Emerge From Jalen Ramsey’s Knee Injury

Miami Dolphins All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is had to be carted off from practice today and his status for Week 1 – and potentially other weeks – is now in doubt.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Ramsey is going to undergo surgery on his knee, which was injured in practice today. Per the report, he is now expected to miss the start of the 2023 regular season.

“Dolphins’ six-time Pro-Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey will undergo knee surgery and is expected to miss the start of the regular season with the injury that he suffered during today’s practice, per league sources. Ramsey’s ACL is intact, though, which is a positive,” Schefter wrote.

As for the nature of the injury, NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that it was an unspecified meniscus injury. 

“I’m told #Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey’s knee injury from today involves his ‘meniscus,’ per source,” Anderson wrote.

A meniscus injury is definitely better news than an ACL injury, but it’s no walk in the park either. Optimistic estimates put his recovery at around six to eight weeks, but in the worst case scenario he could be gone for several months.

“So this is now the situation for Miami and Jalen Ramsey: Best case, he’s back right around the season opener. Worst case, he’s out much longer. That won’t be determined until the surgery, which should happen soon,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero wrote.

The fate of Jalen Ramsey’s 2023 season is quite literally on the edge of a knife right now.
