During Thursday’s practice for the Dolphins, cornerback Jalen Ramsey suffered a knee injury. Unfortunately, he won’t be ready for the start of the regular season.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Ramsey underwent a full meniscus repair this Friday. That procedure is expected to keep him off the field until December.
“Dolphins star Jalen Ramsey did, in fact, undergo a full meniscus repair this morning, sources say, knocking him out until December,” Rapoport said. “While it takes him off the field for the first half of 2023, it is the best long-term health option for Ramsey. It likely lengthens his career.”
This has to be crushing news for the Dolphins. They acquired Ramsey this offseason with the intention that he’d lead their secondary.
On the bright side, Ramsey will return to the field at some point this season. It’s not like he’ll be out until 2024.

With Ramsey sidelined for the foreseeable future, Miami will rely on Xavien Howard, Cam Smith, Kader Kohou and Justin Bethel at cornerback.
The Dolphins could also search the market for a veteran cornerback.
