NFL.com Predicts League’s ‘Cinderella’ Team Next Season

April 3, 2022 by The Spun

Tyreek Hill introduced as the newest member of the Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins have made several big splashes this offseason, most notably acquiring star wide receiver Tyreek Hill in a blockbuster trade and signing left tackle Terron Armstead.

Miami also hired a new head coach, Mike McDaniel, re-signed Xavien Howard and Emmanuel Ogbah on defense and added Connor Williams, Raheem Mostert, Chase Edmonds and Cedrick Wilson Jr. on offense. All of these moves and more have Dolphins fans optimistic for 2022.

Apparently, NFL.com’s Adam Schein is also bullish about Miami. He named the Dolphins his pick to be the league’s Cinderella team next season.

“The NFL is hotter than ever, but Miami needs to join the fun. That’s the word: fun,” Schein wrote. “With Tyreek Hill as the icing on this cake, these Dolphins are going to be fast and fun. When was the last time you could say that about Miami?

“The glass slipper fits these Dolphins. And their clock won’t strike midnight until they hit the playoffs for just the third time since divisional realignment in 2002.”

Schein also predicted that the Dolphins will be better than the New England Patriots and, perhaps most boldly, that Miami will win more games than the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill’s old team.

While the Dolphins have only made the postseason twice in the last 20 years, they are coming off back-to-back winning campaigns and playoff near-misses. After going 10-6 in 2020 and 9-8 last season, Miami moved on from head coach Brian Flores, eventually hiring McDaniel as his replacement.

We’ll see if the former 49ers offensive coordinator can get his new team over the hump as Schein predicted.
