This Sunday morning is a good one for Miami Dolphins fans.
According to multiple reports, the AFC East franchise has reached a big agreement with superstar cornerback Xavien Howard.
Howard and the Dolphins have reportedly agreed to a contract restructuring. Howard is staying in Miami, as he’s been able to add guaranteed money onto his deal.
“The situation has been resolved. He’s staying in Miami. It’s believed to be the first time in NFL history a player with four years left on his deal has received added money and guarantees,” NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reports.

Earlier this offseason, Howard demanded a trade, saying his contract was not fair.
“I’ve given by heart and soul to the Miami Dolphins franchise since they drafted me in 2016, and want to make it clear that I love my teammates,” Howard said in a statement. “They are my family. But what I’ve learned is that the business side of the NFL proves organizations don’t always have player’s best interest at heart.”
The trade demand appears to have worked, as Howard and the Dolphins have reached a new agreement.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport had more.
“For 2022, Xavien Howard gets $500K in per-game roster bonuses and $100K in workout bonuses move to base salary and guaranteed. The full amount for 2022 of $12.975M is injury guaranteed with conversion to fully guaranteed the first day of league year,” he reports.

Howard, 28, has been one of the best cornerbacks in football. He was a first-team All-Pro cornerback in 2020 and a second-team All-Pro player in 2018.
The Dolphins will look to build around him moving forward.
