Miami Dolphins fans dreaming of Dalvin Cook might need to wake up.
According to longtime Miami sportswriter Barry Jackson, it doesn’t look like the Dolphins will be trading for the Minnesota Vikings running back, at least not right now.
“Per source, Dolphins – after initial inquiries with Vikings – were not anticipating trade for Dalvin Cook, at least as of AM,” Jackson tweeted moments ago. “That could change if Vikings decide to do something with him; Fins appreciate his skills… As for now, search continues for a back to pair with Mostert.”
Jackson is referring to veteran Raheem Mostert, who agreed to a two-year deal worth $5.6 million earlier today.
Minnesota is retooling its roster this offseason, with several experienced players potentially on the chopping block or trade market. Cook had been rumored to be one of them.
Right now, the four-time Pro Bowler, who started all 17 games last season and recently had offseason shoulder surgery, remains in their plans.
We’ll see if that changes.
