Before Vic Fangio heads to South Beach to coach up the Dolphins’ D, he’s reportedly been helping Nick Sirianni and the Eagles in their Super Bowl prep.
According to several outlets, Philadelphia quietly signed the longtime coordinator to a two-week contract after the NFC Championship Game to help them get ready to face the Chiefs.
The NFL world reacted to the surprising news ahead of Sunday’s kickoff.
“Very unusual and interesting … on Vic Fangio, who signed a 2-week contract with the Eagles after the NFC championship…” tweeted ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.
“Vic Fangio has not been helping the Eagles defense…” shared Warren Sharp. “Instead, ‘he assisted the offensive staff in their self-scouting process and supplied knowledge of the Chiefs defense that he faced twice a year while he was the head coach of the Broncos.'”
“The Eagles signed soon-to-be Dolphins DC Vic Fangio to a 2-week contract so he could help prepare the Eagles offense for the Chiefs defense. He’ll join the Dolphins when the Super Bowl is over … Fair or unfair?” asked Tanner Phifer.
“The Vic Fangio story was embargoed and pitched to multiple places,” said Brian Floyd. “Neato.”
We’ll see how much it helps come 6:30 PM ET.
