Over the weekend, the Dolphins acquired All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade with the Rams.
As part of this trade, the Dolphins revised Ramsey’s contract. The details regarding this deal indicate that it’s a win-win move for both sides.
Ramsey will receive an $8.8 million signing bonus with a $1.165 million base salary for the 2023 season. The Florida State product will then receive an $11 million roster bonus in the 2024 offseason.
Overall, Ramsey’s full guarantees have been increased by more than $30 million while creating $12.89 million in 2023 cap space for the Dolphins.
Football fans are praising general manager Chris Grier for his ability to constantly manipulate the salary cap in a way that’s beneficial to the Dolphins.
“On GOD we are a kings of cap space,” a Dolphins fan said.
Another fan asked, “Who we getting next?”
Ramsey finished the 2022 season with 88 tackles, 18 passes defended, four interceptions and two sacks.
The Dolphins are hopeful that Ramsey will form a nice duo with Xavien Howard. On paper, that’s an elite pairing.
