Head injuries have been a scary concern for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, but a change to his training regiment could be the answer to keeping him on the field in 2023.
Per Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk:
“After Tua Tagovailoa suffered his latest concussion, a former Olympian reached out to say Tua should try Judo, in order to learn how to fall without striking his head. As it turns out, Tua is indeed incorporating Judo training into his routine.”
The NFL world reacted to the development on Wednesday.
“I said this about pro wrestling as well. First thing you’re taught is tucking your chin while falling. Becomes muscle memory,” a user replied.
“Tua’s next meeting with McDaniels,” another tweeted.
“Very interesting, anything that helps him fr.”
“This is actually dope. I was saying Tua needs to learn how to fall to protect himself,” a Chiefs account tweeted. “I trained in Tae Kwon Do for 10 years and dabbled in Judo as well. Judo will help.”
Here’s to a healthier Tua next season and beyond.
