I don’t think there is a bigger drama queen in the NFL right now than Tyreek Hill, and if not in the NFL, then he’s the biggest on the Miami Dolphins. Hill ended the 2024 season by quitting on the team mid-game in the final game because he was reportedly frustrated and stated that he was “done.” The media and fans took this latest head-scratching Hill news at face value and believed he didn’t want to be a Dolphins player going forward. After a few weeks, both Tyreek and his agent came out with statements claiming that Hill was only frustrated and wanted to be a Miami Dolphin as we advance.
Now Hill, for whatever reason, when asked for his top five quarterbacks in the NFL, left Tua Tagovailoa off his list. This would not be notable if Hill had not gone out of his way over the last three seasons to build Tua up personally and in the media by consistently stating that he was one of the best, if not the best, quarterbacks in the NFL. There is no way that Hill was not aware of what he was doing when he listed Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, and Joe Burrow, but did not bother to list his quarterback as part of his list of top 5 QBs in the NFL.
This has by now reached Tua and the Dolphins front office, and maybe they brush it off and move on as if it never happened. But beyond that, what was Hill’s point in doing this? I’m sure he will claim that it’s not some slight of Tua but just him being honest or some BS along those lines. Maybe he’s just being his normal unnecessary s**t stirrer because he’s not mature enough to keep his mouth shut when it’s what’s best for him and his team. Maybe he was saying what his agent pushed him to say when he claimed he still wished to be a Miami Dolphin and meant it when he signaled that he wanted out of Miami.
Is this the biggest deal in the world? No, but as a Miami Dolphins player, he has to, or at the very least, should be expected to support his quarterback no matter who he is. I, for one, am tired of hearing stories about Tyreek Hill that are less than positive. I don’t care if this story or that story was not him breaking the law or whatever. I care that he’s always in the news for something seemingly stupid. If a guy is a constant talking point for the media and fans outside of anything about how great a player he is, then it’s not acceptable at some point. But what is that point? What’s that point for the fans? More importantly, what’s that point for his fellow teammates and the team itself?
So tonight’s Phinsider Question Of The Day is:
Do you view the latest unfortunate story surrounding Tyreek Hill as a non-issue that the media and some fans are exaggerating, or could there be something more to it, suggesting that Hill might be leaving town sooner rather than later?
