Phinsider Question Of The Day: Worst Trade All Time Edition

May 29, 2025 by The Phinsider

With Kevin’s series on past Miami Dolphins trades, I thought this would be a good time for this and the following question tomorrow night. For those of you, like me, who have been on this long and often exhausting journey of being a Dolphins fan, you have witnessed your fair share of trades. Some of those trades have been outstanding and yielded good to great dividends, such as the trade involving offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, wide receiver Kenny Stills, and a sixth-round pick in 2021. The Tunsil trade provided the team, which was entering yet another rebuild, with a 2020 1st-round pick and a 4th-round pick, a 2021 1st-round pick and a 2nd-round pick, along with tackle Julie’n Davenport and DB Johnson Bademosi. Those picks later became trade assets for Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chubb, and draft picks Jevon Holland and Jaylen Waddle.

On the flip side, there’s the trade for David Boston. Boston was arguably the most jacked wideout I had ever seen. There was a good reason for that: he could not stop getting suspended by the league for failing drug tests due to his apparent ongoing use of steroids, which also explained the impressive physique. Sadly, Boston was not the only questionable trade by the Dolphins. Boston was not even the only questionable trade involving a wide receiver. The Dolphins’ past struggles have been defined not only by several poor coaches but also by numerous ineffective general managers who have made both terrible draft picks and poor trades. I was happy with some of those trades, even though they didn’t all go well while others worked out. The same goes for the trades that made me ask, “Why?” Some worked out, and some just bombed.

So tonight’s Phinsider Question Of The Day is:

What, in your opinion, is the worst trade ever made by our Miami Dolphins?
