The University of Maryland signed head football coach Mike Locksley to a contract extension earlier this spring.
Maryland hasn’t been among the contenders in the Big Ten, but Locksley has done an encouraging job building up the program, especially on the recruiting trail.
Locksley apparently impressed enough to land an NFL head coaching interview earlier this offseason.
“Prior to the Miami Dolphins hiring Mike McDaniel, Locksley — who coached Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa at Alabama — was among the coaches to interview for the Dolphins head coaching job,” Matt Zenitz reported this weekend.
A note on Locksley:

The Dolphins ultimately ended up hiring 49ers assistant coach Mike McDaniel to be their new head coach.
Locksley, 52, has been at Maryland since 2019.
