J.C. Jackson is set to earn a significant raise this offseason. Despite his production in 2021, he has not received the franchise tag from the New England Patriots.
Even though free agency is roughly a week away, a suitor has already emerged for Jackson.
According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, there’s a legitimate chance Jackson could stay in the AFC East and join the Miami Dolphins.
“Been some buzz of Jackson going to Miami to reconnect with Josh Boyer and team up with Xavien Howard,” Volin tweeted. “Would be a pretty lethal 1-2 combo.”
Boyer, the defensive coordinator for the Dolphins, was the Patriots cornerbacks coach during Jackson’s rookie season.
A duo of Jackson and Howard would certainly give Boyer a formidable secondary heading into the fall.

This past season, Jackson had 58 combined tackles, 23 pass breakups and eight interceptions. It was an impressive year for the Maryland product.
Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network recently said the Patriots aren’t expected to enter a bidding war for Jackson. That means teams like the Dolphins could potentially take Jackson out of the Patriots’ price range.
If the Patriots lose Jackson this offseason, they’ll have a massive hole to fill at cornerback.
