Star Playmaker Seeking a New Deal, Trade Is Still Possible

July 5, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Football

Hill seeking deal trade

Star playmaker Tyreek Hill is seeking a new deal but a trade is still possible before the 2024 NFL season. According to multiple reports, Hill is pushing for a new contract as there’s been a huge wave of wide receivers inking new deals. He’s still playing on the four-year, $120 million contract where he was able to ink in 2022. Hill has been putting up incredible numbers with the Dolphins throughout his tenure so there’s no question why he wants a new contract.

It’s still questionable what his NFL future is considering that he said he plans to retire after his contract is up for the Dolphins. If he’s looking for a new deal then what does mean for his retirement plans he was talking about? It seems like those talks are behind him and wants to bring a Super Bowl back to Miami. Justin Jefferson, Amon-Ra St. Brown and AJ Brown have been some of the top pass-catchers receiving new deals, including teammate Jaylen Waddle.

Hill wants to fit into that category so it’s interesting to see what the Dolphins will do considering they still need to pay Tua Tagovailoa. It’s Hill’s last year with guaranteed money so it might be time for Miami to consider extending him before this upcoming year. It’s a complicated situation for the Dolphins as they have to see what money they can gather for him to stick around. If the organization wants to bring back a championship to Miami then the logical move would be to extend Tagovailoa and Hill.

However, it’s going to be a tough time since the Dolphins are extending Waddle so they’re looking to keep as many stars on their roster. A trade isn’t out of the question which he may seek if he doesn’t get a new contract.

Potential Trade Fits

Kansas City Chiefs

A return to Arrowhead Stadium isn’t out of the question and the fit makes sense considering the wide receiver situation for the Chiefs. Rashee Rice is missing some playing time this year due to offseason legal trouble so Kansas City doesn’t have their No. 1 wideout for week one. This leaves Marquise Brown leading the depth chart but it’s his first year with the team so there’s a lot of pressure already on him. Hill should be able to return to win one more ring before he retires to take off the load.

Xavier Worthy needs some time to adjust to a new league scenery and there isn’t any solid reliability behind him. Kadarius Toney and Mecole Hardman provide some short-term relief but they need a superstar playmaker again. Somehow the Chiefs have been able to still capture back-to-back Superbowls but an elite pass-catcher like Hill would make this team unfair for other teams.

Baltimore Ravens

Hill would be able to get some revenge against his former team if he joined the dark side with Lamar Jackson. They have a young offense developing with Zay Flowers leading the depth chart. However, Rashod Bateman has been showing signs that he’s slowing down. Hill stepping in would help boost the production and speed to get Jackson to his first ring. He has the experience but having Flowers and Hill on the opposite sides would be a nightmare for the rest of the AFC.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers would solve their issues of releasing Mike Williams and trading Keenan Allen due to cap issues. Hill would be a salary cap nightmare for the team but they might as well take a chance on a superstar like him. The outlook of DJ Chark, Quentin Johnson and Josh Palmer doesn’t look to be playoff-worthy for Justin Herbert. They’re lacking star power so adding a top pass-catcher like Hill solves their issues.
