The Miami Dolphins broke open Sunday’s 31-16 win over the New York Giants with more explosive plays.

Rookie running back De’Von Achane sprinted past Giants defenders for a 76-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The next time Miami’s offense touched the ball, Tua Tagovailoa connected with Tyreek Hill for a 64-yard gain.

According to NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Hill reached a top speed of 22.01 mph on his long play. It’s the fastest recorded time of any NFL ball-carrier this season.

Achane’s touchdown is third at 21.76 mph. Dolphins players account for the seven quickest times in 2023.

The @MiamiDolphins are currently responsible for the seven fastest speeds of the season.

🥈 De’Von Achane (21.93 mph, Wk 3)
🥉 De’Von Achane (21.76 mph, Wk 5)

Hill and Achane each account for three of those seven max speeds. Raheem Mostert joined the fray when reaching 21.62 mph on one of his two touchdown runs in Week 2’s win over the New England Patriots.

That’s not even accounting for another burner in Jaylen Waddle, who clocked the 16th-highest speed (20.99) in Week 1.

Mike McDaniel has turned Miami’s quickness into a major advantage. The Dolphins entered Week 5 with an NFL-leading 511 yards per game, with no other team reaching 400.

They continued that onslaught when gaining 524 yards on just 54 plays against the Giants. Achane and Mostert combined for 216 rushing yards, and Hill added another 69-yard score early in the third quarter.

The Carolina Panthers have the unenviable task of trying to slow down Miami next Sunday.
